George Everest Mussoorie

Commissioned into the Royal Artillery, in 1818, Lt. Everest was appointed as assistant to Colonel William Lambton, who had started the Great Trigonometrical Survey of the subcontinent in 1806. On Lambton's death in 1823, Everest succeeded to the post of superintendent of the survey, and in 1830 he was appointed as the Surveyor-General of India.
Everest owned a house in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India, for about 11 years. He purchased it, sight unseen, from General Wish. Although now virtually derelict, it still has its roof, and there have been various plans to make it into a museum.
George Everest is just half a kilometer from the Everest house. You need to hike for 25 mins to make your feet up to reach the peek. The peek is on the highest peek of the Mussorie range and well decorated with sacred words flag of tibbeties. This is a must visit place for any tourist who came to visit the Mussorie.

Climate of George Everest Mussoorie
Climate is relatively cold even in summer the highest temperature may to goes upto 20-23 deg C. From the top you will see the clouds and fog below you running fast. In winters this place is covered with heavy snow. The best session to visit this place start from March to Sep.
How to reach George Everest Mussoorie
This peek is around 10 KM from the Mussoorie. The road is narrow and caution is required to drive. There is another way to reach here you will a diversion with sign board says way to Hathi Paun. This is a shortcut if you dont want to go Mussoorie. The road suddenly takes a huge hike to reach upto Everest House. Then you have park your vehicles in the parking ground and start hiking for 23 mins.
